Cala Mitjana and Cala Estreta

Just minutes away from Cala Torta, you will find Cala Mitjana and its smaller sibling, Cala Estreta. These two pristine beaches represent the essence of authentic, untouched Mallorca. Cala Mitjana, about 80 meters wide, stands out for its protected dune system and fine white sand.

Cala Estreta is a narrow sea inlet between rocks, perfect for those seeking total solitude. Both coves are wild and lack services, preserved by the Llevant Peninsula Natural Park. They are ideal for disconnecting and enjoying nature in its purest state.

While Cala Torta is the most famous, Cala Mitjana and Cala Estreta are the hidden rewards for those who explore further along the coast of Artà.

Cala Mitjana: White Sand and Dunes

Cala Mitjana is characterized by its dune system and the lush pine forest on its left side. The seabed is mostly sandy, giving the water an exceptional turquoise clarity. It is a popular spot for nudism due to its secluded and respectful atmosphere.

Cala Estreta: A Rocky Hideaway

Right next door is Cala Estreta. As its name suggests ("Narrow Cove"), it is a slim inlet flanked by low rocky cliffs. It is a favorite for locals seeking privacy and for snorkeling enthusiasts, as the underwater rock walls are teeming with marine life.

Access and Hiking

  • Getting there: Follow the same road from Artà as for Cala Torta, but take the left fork at the end of the track.

  • Parking: There is a small dirt parking area; high-clearance vehicles are recommended.

  • Trails: These coves are key stops on the coastal path of the Llevant Natural Park, leading towards the Albarca Tower and Cala es Matzoc.
