What are your plans for this summer? If your travels take you to Mallorca, one of the greatest adventures for young and old alike is a visit to one of the island’s most magical places: the Mallorca Safari Zoo.
With a scientific and conservation-focused approach, Zoo Safari Mallorca aims to introduce visitors of all ages to the different species that call this natural environment home, in a respectful and up-close way. Don’t miss out on an experience that will help you appreciate and value the animal life on our planet.
At East Mallorca, we invite you to join us on this tour where you’ll learn more about the facilities, activities, hours, and much more.
What is Zoo Safari Mallorca?
To understand what Safari Mallorca is today, we need to look back a bit to its beginnings. This park opened its doors in 1969 as a pioneering initiative in the Balearic Islands. The concept was something new for the time: the chance to observe exotic wildlife by combining a vehicle tour—like a real safari—with an area for walking.
However, as the years have passed and with a new understanding of animal care, Safari Mallorca is now undergoing a profound transformation—both scientific and ethical. Far from being a mere exhibition space, the park is moving toward a modern and sustainable model, guided by the strictest international standards of animal welfare.
Visiting Safari Mallorca today means both witnessing and actively participating in a living project. This is a space that is constantly evolving, striving to be a model of respect, sustainability, and environmental education on the island.
What Can You See? Animals at Safari Mallorca in Cala Millor
What stands out most about Safari Mallorca is its impressive biodiversity. To ensure visitors don’t miss a thing, the park divides the animals into three major families that you won’t want to miss on your next tour:
Mammals: the kings of the safari
As you can imagine, this is the most exciting category because you can see the African and Asian giants just a few meters away from you.
What are the most iconic animals? The elegance of the giraffes is one of the most remarkable features, along with the imposing presence of the southern white rhinoceros and the Asian elephant, the majestic lion, and the imposing common hippos. This is the perfect moment to grab your camera and start posting tons of photos on your social media profile.
The primate area is a favorite among the little ones. Watching the playful ring-tailed lemur, the agile white-handed gibbons, the siamang, or the Geoffroy’s spider monkey in action is a spectacle full of acrobatics and expressiveness.
Birds: Color and Exoticism
The park’s sky and ponds come alive with sounds and vibrant colors thanks to a spectacular collection of birds. The spectacular and photogenic common and scarlet flamingos, along with the tropical beauty of the blue-and-yellow macaw and the exotic shamrock macaw, are among the gems awaiting you on your tour.
But the feathered wonder doesn’t end there. It’s impossible not to be amazed by the life-size presence of the common ostrich and the common emu. And there’s more: you can feast your eyes on black swans, the striking Lady Amherst’s pheasant, the majestic peacock, and the common goose.
The Prehistoric Fascination of Reptiles
Are you a fan of thrills and mystery? Then the reptile area at Safari Mallorca awaits you, offering a close-up encounter with true jewels of evolution.
- The imposing saltwater crocodile, the largest reptile on the planet.
- The fascinating Duméril’s boa.
- The curious snake-necked turtle.
- The imposing snapping turtle.
Is there anything else in this fascinating area? Yes, the royal python, the Nile monitor, and the European pond turtle also call this place home. Without a doubt, the animals at Safari Mallorca Cala Millor are an attraction that you and your family deserve to experience and appreciate in all their splendor.
